Bring the story to life
about 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 09, 2019 at 07:01:29 PM

Have you ever wondered about the source of Stauf's powers? Who was he before he became the evil toymaker that we've come to know? How and why did those particular guests end up in the mansion that night? What actually became of them? How did they meet their fate? Who is the lady floating down the halls, beckoning you to follow? Lots of unanswered questions left in the air. Lots of story that couldn't be told, even on two CDs.

The Stauf Mysteries is designed to begin to fill in those missing pieces. There are nine short stories included. Each one a mystery unto itself that must be solved by the end of a game session. A meta puzzle, if you will. All nine stories, taken together, add up to a large piece of the puzzle. If this were a streaming TV series, it would be a 9 episode season 1.

Penned by renown author of horror and fiction, Matthew Costello, it is an essential piece of the puzzle that is the as yet untold Stauf legend and something that every fan of the original game will want to own as a perfect companion piece that easily integrates with the 7th Guest board game.

Come, join the campaign and bring the story out of the crypt and back to life - for yourself and for fans everywhere.

The Stauf Mysteries: New Kickstarter Campaign for The 7th Guest Board Game Expansion Pack
about 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 08, 2019 at 06:55:17 PM

My Dear Guest,

As you know, our vision, from day one in the early 90’s, has always been to bring ‘story’ to gaming. And we’re excited to tell you that we’re extending that mission by giving tabletop gamers even more of Henry Stauf while revealing heretofore untold aspects of his story with The Stauf Mysteries, the new expansion pack for The 7th Guest board game.

To this end, we've recruited to the team the substantial creative talents of renown writer and author of the original 7th Guest tale, Matthew Costello.

Here is the link to our new Kickstarter page.

This campaign will run for 30 days, starting today. Naturally, we hope that you will support the project with your pledges, but we also need you to be our ambassadors and share our news and our campaign page link with your friends, family, co-workers, and social media mutuals. I don’t need to tell you that the first few days of a Kickstarter campaign are the most important and set the tone for the entire campaign. Help us get off to a good start. Make The Stauf Mysteries happen.

We’ll be posting updates, uploading new Facebook posts and tweeting about this important Kickstarter campaign on a regular basis. We’d be delighted if you’d consider sharing our Kickstarter page, liking and sharing our Facebook posts, and liking and re-tweeting posts from our Twitter feed. That’d be awesome, and would really help us build up the necessary momentum for a successful campaign.

As they always say:  “Crowdfunding is only as good as your crowd…” And our fans are the best.

Getting Our Ship Together

Our warehouse engineers are hard at work round the clock, making sure your orders get to you safely and reliably.
Our warehouse engineers are hard at work round the clock, making sure your orders get to you safely and reliably.

We are shipping games and add-ons in batches, or groups, depending upon who ordered what and where they live. We had a delay waiting for extra shipping supplies which set us back a few days, and are now waiting for some customs pouches from USPS, but we have been shipping games since the first of the month starting with the low-hanging fruit, so to speak, i.e., those in the US who are due the basic game only, so, many have already received theirs.

We are shipping another batch this week. And for those who ordered Infection or the Stauf figure, or who live outside the US, yours will be going out the following week.

So hang in there boos and ghouls. And again, thank you for you support and patience.

Signed, Unsealed, and Delivered

It must be a sign!
It must be a sign!

A message to those whose Kickstarter Edition of the game came in a box without shrink wrapping.

Since the boards of Kickstarter Editions are personally signed by me, in order to get to the boards, the shrink wrap had to be removed.

It's a feature, not a bug.

Thank you for your understanding.

Major Milestone Day

Specially modified vans rushing to deliver our board game all around the world.
Specially modified vans rushing to deliver our board game all around the world.

I am pleased to announce that today we begin shipping product to the most important people in the world. The real influencers. The ones who really count... the true fans of The 7th Guest and backers of the board game.

Many cartons and boxes to process.
Many cartons and boxes to process.

Even if we don't move one more unit, as far as I'm concerned, you and I have accomplished what we set out to do many months ago when we reached out to you, the community, to find out if there was enough interest in realizing a board game version of one the world's most venerated classic computer games of all time. We initiated the journey by designing a table top game that was as faithful a representation of the original as possible, in both gameplay and spirit (literally and figuratively) where you once again enter the house of the mysterious and diabolical toymaker Henry Stauf as a special guest, and find yourself challenged to be the first to complete the tasks assigned to you by making your way through the haunted mansion, solving challenging puzzles, mysteries, conundrums, bafflers, brain-teasers, riddles and other posers that will test your acumen, reasoning skills and knowledge base of all things horror, bizarre, and the occult in both real life and in fiction.

The core of the original game was the  puzzles, and so it is with the board game. And that was our main challenge this time... to come up with hundreds of interesting and clever puzzles that would make Stauf proud and keep you guessing for hours and hours of fun.

Although many played 7th Guest solo, or cooperatively with their friends and family, this time you are one of the six guests playing against your friends and family, face to face, in real time. It is designed to be a casual, fun experience that can be learned in minutes and played by a gathering of regular folks, not just hardcore gamers who demand complicated rules, deep strategy and lots of resources to manage.

We think you will find that we delivered exactly the game we described, illustrated, and promised on our Kickstarter page. The only surprises to be discovered lie among the 300 puzzlers that will test your wits. We  think you will also discover how much fun there is to be had, just as we had in making the game and playtesting it with our own friends and focus group beta testers.

Since it went to print, we have added a couple of minor tweaks to the rules which we have posted on our website for download. We will look forward to hearing of gameplay variations you may come up with that suit how you like to play the game. We will continue to update the rules as we hear suggestions from you, our partners and collaborators.

I cannot stress enough the fact that the game that will be on its way to you over the course of the next couple of weeks was a joint effort between me, the entire Trilobyte crew, our crack international puzzle-making team and, not least of all, YOU who made it possible with your unwavering trust, patience, and most tangible expression of support.
